Implant Options

Full-arch implant options are considered in light of your anatomy, health, and restorative goals.

1. Patient Anatomy

Patients with no teeth, severe periodontal disease with loose teeth, or numerous nonrestorable teeth may be candidates. Dr. Johnson reviews the remaining teeth and CT imaging before recommending a full arch. When teeth may be preserved, he coordinates an evaluation with a restorative dentist.

2. Systemic Health

Your medical history and overall health are reviewed as part of planning, including a discussion of potential risks and healing considerations.

3. Restorative Goals

Dr. Johnson performs the surgical evaluation, extractions, and implant placement. He plans with a prosthodontist or the restorative dentist you choose, who designs and delivers the teeth.

A consultation reviews your concerns, oral health, possible treatment options, and risks so the team can discuss an individualized plan.

Options, Risks & Sequence of Care

Dr. Johnson uses CT imaging to assess available bone and the front-to-back spread needed for the planned teeth. Bite force and a history of clenching or grinding affect the implant plan. The final implant count may change during surgery if bone quality differs from the scan.

Individualized Planning

When upper-jaw bone is limited, Dr. Johnson may discuss zygomatic implants as an alternative to extensive grafting. If implants have enough initial stability, temporary teeth may be attached on surgery day; this is assessed during treatment and is not guaranteed. Final teeth are designed after healing, often around four to six months.
